Yes, you can send up to 2000 messages per day via the web interface. But, power users that mail merge or send large quantities to students may exceed the 2000 daily limit, in such cases they will be able to connect a client directly to our authenticated SMTP server to bypass the limit.
Yes, you will be able to quickly search for anyone that has a campus email account, including alumni and students. However, If someone has a confidentiality flag set in banner, they will not be displayed in the directory.
Currently forwarding for all accounts has been turned off. In the near future, student and alumni accounts may be allowed to forward off to an external email service.
Yes, you can link you calendar in a Doodle to show available/free or busy times.
Yes, you will be able to connect via POP or IMAP with most email clients. POP is turned off by default for various reasons, mainly because it takes the messages off the server which is usually undesirable. However, if you know what you are doing, you are welcome to change the settings in your webmail to turn on POP access.
Each user gets 30GB of combined storage space for Gmail & Drive. We previously only had 250MB of combined storage on our existing email and file storage solution. In case you were wondering, that's 120 time more storage!
The educational suite/core bundle of services include Gmail, Calendar, Groups, Sites, Drive, Mobile Sync & Talk. We realize Google provides additional features for free personal accounts, some of these may be turned on in the future.
On our login page you will user your standard NetID (username) and password. However, on Google's apps or service pages you must include the full email address, firstname.lastname@example.org and your current password.
Graduates will maintain perpetual use email accounts - Starting Fall 2013 all graduates will keep their email account; we will provide a process by which past graduates can request an account if so desired.
The new webmail page is located at http://email.plattsburgh.edu. However, eventually the old webmail page will be used as a landing page to direct folks and to new webmail login page. After all accounts are moved both webmail.plattsburgh.edu and email.plattsburgh.edu will provide direct web access to your email.

Yes, all current email aliases will not change (i.e. email@example.com) will still work as it did before.
No, email addresses will not change - firstname.lastname@example.org will still be your primary email address.
Yes, we will move your email for you using the migration tool found on this site, this keeps your folder structure intact. The process is fully automated, but if you have local folders there may be some manual steps. We are following up with all our users that currently use an email client so we can make sure local folders and calendars get migrated.
